Rainer Simons
Born in 1943, Rainer Simons (left) lives in Munich. For the past 27 years he has been a Senior Engineer at Munich's Technical University. Even while studying mechanical engineering, he took a close interest, as a memeber of the German Engineers' Association (VDI), in topics relating to the history of technology. From the mid-1970s onwards, professional contacts led to an increasing interest in the development of the Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW). In addition to various other publications, his
book on the legendary Type 328 is today one of the standard works in the BMW historical bibliography.
